Panel with a standing warrior in relief
Description
More images

Panel decorated in relief with a standing warrior. It is probably the king of the city in war dress. He is in profile and the elements of his finery that are considered important are folded down in the plane. He wears an imposing headdress composed of a medallion decorated with a head and a plume of feathers. Around his neck, he wears a complex pectoral. He holds a spear in one hand and a shield in the other. The shield is decorated with a medallion bearing the effigy of the Jaguar Sun God, important in royal imagery. In the hollow of the arm, one can still see a representation of the God K recognizable by his long nose and the smoking cigar stuck in his head. The inscription of glyphs that accompanies the ruler corresponds to August 20, 593 and helps to legitimize his power.
